The Three Stooges: Dual Audio 720p | 1080i The Three Stooges is an American comedy film released in 2012. It is a Farrelly brothers production that follows the trio's misadventures through the 1920s and 1930s. The cast includes Sean Hayes, Will Sasso, and Chris Diamantopoulos as Larry, Curly, and Moe respectively. Much like the original television series from which it draws inspiration, this version of The Three Stooges does not attempt to be historically accurate; it is a retelling of fictionalized versions of their well-known antics using modern technology. The film was released on Blu-ray and DVD on September 11, 2012. This is the first time that an American film has been completely shot in digital 3D; all previous films were converted into 3D after shooting. The film was shot using the RED Epic camera, which allowed for more elaborate visual effects than would have normally been possible with 1930s-era technology (although some historical footage was used to fill in gaps). The film garnered negative reviews from critics; it currently holds a 26% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 72 reviews. Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "B" on an A+ to F scale. The film topped the US box office on its opening day, grossing $13.7 million, making it the fourth-highest opening day gross of all time for an R-rated comedy. It also has the highest opening weekend gross for a Farrelly brothers film, also tying with "Hall Pass" and "Dumb and Dumber To". The film went on to make $56.4 million in North America and $47.9 million in other countries for a worldwide total of $100.9 million, against a production budget of $30 million. The DVD and Blu-ray were released by Paramount Home Entertainment on September 11, 2012 in North America and September 18 in Australia. The film was released on Digital HD on April 10, 2012 and on Blu-ray and DVD on July 24, 2012.The film was released to VOD, iTunes Store and Amazon Instant Video on August 21, 2014. John Gholson of DVD Talk awarded the film one and a half stars out of five and called it "[a] mediocre slapstick comedy that's not nearly as funny as its contemporaries." He criticized the movie's editing because "the movie never has enough material to sustain its full running time". Regarding the film's 3D conversion, he said "I don't know if they did a bad job or if it's just not necessary, but if you can imagine a 3D movie that looks exactly like it does in 2D, then the movie fails to capture any kind of magic". The film was released on both Blu-ray and DVD on June 28, 2013. In celebration of The Three Stooges' 75th anniversary in 2012, the Library of Congress selected this film for preservation in the United States National Film Registry. cfa1e77820
