Rambo is a 2008 American action film directed by Sylvester Stallone, who also starred in the title role. It is the fourth installment in the Rambo series and a sequel to 1988's Rambo III. Escape into a world that has been taken over by violence and find out what John Rambo must do to get his revenge in this action-packed movie by Sylvester Stallone. A rescue team led by Colonel Sam Trautman enters the rebel-controlled N'Dara Forest in search of two missing soldiers. Trautman’s team is ambushed by rebels, and most of the men are killed. A young soldier survives the attack, but is severely wounded. Rambo is taken prisoner with Trautman's daughter Maggie, sniper Corporal Burke, and interpreter Kerry Davis. Trautman agrees to release Ramsey if he helps defend them from numerous rebel attacks during their journey to N'Dara village. Ramsey reluctantly complies with this request as he is an experienced jungle fighter, but does not know any of the rebels or how to organize a rescue party. The group soon encounters a village of rebels and is taken to their leader, Colonel Kyra, who holds Trautman and Ramsey captive. Kyra reveals that he is holding Trautman's men in the pit of death, deep within N'Dara Forest. When they attempt to free the hostages, they are attacked by more rebels. The group escapes on foot through the jungle with enemy soldiers on their trail. Rambo is captured, but his fellow prisoners manage to escape capture. He escapes capture by killing many of the enemy soldiers with some help from Trautman and another soldier. He reunites with the surviving Americans and leads them to safety. Maggie is furious with Ramsey for abandoning her, but Ramsey explains that he was protecting her by not allowing himself to be captured again. The group meets up with a unit of soldiers on patrol in the jungle. A long pursuit begins as they flee further into the jungle. They are rescued by helicopters after they come upon an abandoned French fort, where the rebels have gathered for one final attack on both groups of soldiers. Ramsey resolves to stay behind to hold off the rebels while his companions escape, knowing that they are most vulnerable when crashing or taking off in their helicopters. With the help of Trautman's team, Ramsey kills many of the rebels. He detonates plastic explosives which he previously planted, taking out the remaining rebels. Maggie starts to reconcile with John after seeing how dire his situation was. John is rescued by the French soldiers who arrive to check on the fort, but is too weak to walk under his own power. He rests up in a stretcher as they carry him back towards their base camp. Home media Distribution released a 3-disc collector's edition set on October 20, 2008 in North America.
